the city of la was originally found by 44 african and indigenous people working for spain. it was founded as a city in 1781.south la originally had a very diverse population but the that changed over time.by the the watts riots of 1965, watts was mostly black. the watts riots began when marquette frye was pulled over reckless driving.this resulted in 34 deaths. it also led to most of the white popula tion leaving south central and the areas around it.
